The international collaborative research project "Turning Land into Capital. Historical Periods of (Re)Production of Wealth in Latin America from the 19th to the 21st Century" (2023 - 2027) aims to understand the role of land as a means of (re)production of wealth in Latin America and the Caribbean. The focus is on the two phases from the 1860s to the Great Depression of 1929 and from the 1980s to the 2020s. In this inter- and transdisciplinary project, scholars from the universities of Bielefeld, Bern, Puebla, Quito and Quilmes are researching strategies for transforming land into capital in Latin America. The project is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation within the project line "Perspectives on Wealth: The (Re-)Production of Wealth" from 2023-2027.
